About Us

About

We are a community of Myanmar believers and friends, learning to follow Jesus together with open doors and open hearts.

Our Mission

To know Christ, grow in Him, and make Him known — as a family.

Wherever you come from — Myanmar, California, or anywhere in between — you’ll find a seat, a story, and a Savior here.

Our Story

Small beginnings, faithful God

From a living room prayer meeting to a thriving congregation, every chapter of our story is written in gratitude.

“We are a family who prays together, eats together, and grows together.”

Our Journey

A timeline of faithfulness

Key milestones in the life of our church.

2008

A prayer meeting begins

A small group of Burmese believers starts meeting weekly in a living room to pray and worship together.

2012

The church is planted

With a dozen families, LA Myanmar Christian Church is formally established as a congregation.

2016

Our first building

We move into our current home on Sunrise Avenue, adding room for Sunday worship and ministry.

2020

Adapting to serve

When the city closed, our services moved online — and we discovered we could reach our community anywhere.

Today

A home for hundreds

We continue to grow as a multicultural family of believers, rooted in Christ and reaching Los Angeles.

“We are a family who prays together, eats together, and grows together.”

What We Believe

Foundations of our faith

The essentials of our faith are simple. We hold them humbly and hold each other warmly.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, authoritative for our faith and practice.

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, who lived without sin, died for our sins, and rose again on the third day.

We believe salvation is a gift of grace received through faith in Jesus Christ alone — not by works.

We practice water baptism by immersion and regularly celebrate the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice.

We believe the church is the body of Christ, called to worship, discipleship, fellowship, and loving our neighbors.
